Before my first MMA cage fight, the promoter told me something that stuck:
“Ryan, every fight card, two people bail. They come up with excuses—a mysterious toe injury, they’re “sick,” their dog needs the vet… They just don’t have the mental toughness to get in the ring.”
That moment was a Ripitude revelation. MMA cage fighting might seem extreme, but it was a proving ground for mental toughness. After stepping into the cage, business negotiations, public speaking, or personal conflicts suddenly felt easily manageable. Toughness isn’t aggression—it’s calm, awareness, focus, and responsiveness under pressure.

Just like biceps—you can know the exercises, but if you don’t do the reps, they won’t grow. Flabbitude happens when you skip the daily practice.
It’s also a tool to leave parental guidance and life lessons for my kids, for when they’re ready. Lessons aren’t absorbed when forced—they’re learned by witnessing. By parents living Ripitude and showing consistent action, kids model strength, resilience, and purpose. Passing it on for generations.
